Indiana Beta Sigma Phi

Beta Sigma Phi for the best friends of your life!

Ask our members why they joined Beta Sigma Phi and most will answer, friendship. This sisterhood develops and deepens through shared social and cultural programs, and  philanthropic projects throughout our communities. However, the endless possibility of new friendships and a lot of fun, is still the number one reason for becoming a Beta Sigma Phi.

Dear Indiana Sisters of Beta Sigma Phi,
Oh, how wonderful it was to be at State Council Day and see everyone! The theme was Light Up Beta Sigma Phi 2021 “Let’s Have a Ball”, and we did! Faces were “lit up” with smiles as we greeted one another, and we did in fact “have a ball” as we enjoyed each other’s company and the activities of the day. Many thanks to the Beta Golden Girls led by co-chairwomen Ruth Gilman and Teressa Meredith for hosting this wonderful event and making it safe to gather together. After being cooped up during the winter and doing only essential tasks to stay safe, it was a very welcome opportunity get away and have a good time. Mother Nature also cooperated and let the sunshine in to brighten both days of our weekend. Many enjoyed the various dining venues that abounded in the area on Saturday night. On Sunday, oohs and aahs were heard as sisters Strolled Along 21 Avenue for Ways and Means. We had a delicious luncheon that our host sisters helped to serve and then began our meeting. We heard sobering news from Laura Berry, Executive Director of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, about the impact Covid-19 has had on their clients and on their work. The State Convention 2021 Committee presented a funny skit to promote the October event. Most of the committees reported their activities to the membership. A highlight of the meeting was hearing about the history of the Lamplighter Memorial Fund, our Secondary State Project. It was very enlightening. After some announcements, the meeting was adjourned and the Ways and Means winners were announced. Shrieks of surprise were heard as the winners claimed their items. We then stood for the Closing Ritual and Mizpah and bid each other farewell.
It was a glorious weekend for our glorious sisterhood!
While I am writing, I want to remind you that nomination letters for the Board offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian must be submitted by May 1. Please see the State Council Day Business Meeting minutes for more information. You can review the duties and responsibilities for each office on the website under “Officers and Committees”. I encourage you to give serious consideration about serving our organization as a State officer.
Our next State Event is State Day on June 27th in Fishers, Indiana. I look forward to seeing you there! In the meantime, stay safe and well!
Yours in Beta Sigma Phi,
Zelda M. Flye, President
Indiana State Council of Beta Sigma Phi
