Lafayette Beta Master Chapter is proud to nominate our sister, Marlene Hodge, for the office of Vice President of the Indiana State Council of Beta Sigma Phi.
During Marlene's 60 years as a Beta Sigma Phi, she has demonstrated exemplary leadership skills and commitment. Marlene pledged in 1965 in Fremont, Ohio and has styed active all through those years of transferring with her husband's job. She has held every chapter office many times through progressions and transfers. She has served as President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer of our chapter. Marlene is currently serving our State organization as its Treasurer with this year being her second and final year in that office. Marlene has been honored with Order of the Rose, Silver Circle and the Golden Circle. She will receive the Diamond Circle Ritual at Lafayette's founder's Day celebration this year.
Marlene has also been an active member in the Lafayette City Council as a chapter representative as well as serving as City Council Treasurer and City Council President.
Marlene has attended many state events through the years. She has also been a member of the State Convention committee for Lafayette in past years and in 2014 she served as the Treasurer of the State Convention held in Lafayette.
Marlene has been a church secretary while living in Youngstown, Ohio, She also was Secretary to two Deans of Students at Downers Grove North High School in Downers Grove, Illinois. She started working as Attendance Secretary at Jefferson High School after moving to Lafayette. Six months later she was designated as Secretary to the Principal and simultaneously worked as the Extra Curricular Secretary. She did both jobs for over ten years. Due to a reorganization, the jobs were split and she was asked to continue as the Extra Curricular Treasurer.
While at Jefferson High School, Marlene became involved with the Indiana Association of Educational Office Professionals (IAEOP). During this time, she served on various committees and served as Acting Vice President. She later held the offices of Vice President and President. She remained involved in the organization while it was active. Marlene retired from Lafayette Jefferson High School after 34 years of service. She is currently serving as the Treasurer of the retirement senior community where she lives.
Marlene has been successful in her term as our State Treasurer. She has shown her commitment to our sorority and her desire to serve. She will continue that commitment to our sorority by serving admirably as our next State Vice President.
